International patients who stay or reside in Japan without Japanese Health Insurance

What to bring

Please bring the items below for your visit.

  • Passport or residence card
  • Travel insurance* or medical insurance* (Documents that can confirm your policy number)
  • Credit card

【Important notice】Travel insurance*, medical insurance*:

If you have travel or medical insurance, be sure to inform your insurance company of your visit in advance. NCGM cannot submit a claim to your insurance company unless the ICC receives a guarantee of payment (GOP) via email prior to your visit (support@hosp.ncgm.go.jp). If the ICC does not receive a GOP, you will be required to pay the full amount.

Examination and treatment of international patients (Language and level of care)

  1. We have medical interpreters at our hospital.
    We provide medical interpreting in 19 different languages with a tablet device. Medical interpreters provide on-site interpreting in English, Chinese, Vietnamese, Nepalese, and Burmese for doctor’s consultations and explanations during the daytime on weekdays. Please understand that they are sometimes not available.

  2. Medical interpreting is provided for free
    Patients do not need to pay any fees for using our interpreters.

  3. Medical coordinators elevate the quality of care for international patients
    Our medical coordinators (nurses) from the ICC share information with medical interpreters in order to meet patient needs and elevate the quality of care. We not only provide optimal medical care, but we also value the quality of patient care.

Medical fees

If you do not have Japanese Health Insurance, your medical fees will be twice the amount calculated based on the Japanese healthcare system.
