Notice on Revision of “Additional Fee for First-Time Patients without a Referral” (SENTEI RYOYOHI)
(Starting Oct 1, 2022)

A revision has been made in the Japanese medical fee system as of April 2022.
This requires all patients who visit us without referrals from other hospitals or clinics to pay an additional fee as shown below:

*What is SENTEI RYOYOHI? ・・・ The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare requires all patients who visit a hospital with 200 or more beds without a referral to pay an additional fee. If you are a new patient and you do not have a referral document from other hospitals or clinics, you will be asked to pay this fee in addition to your treatment fee and first-visit fee.

“First Visit” Counter

  • Patients with a referral letter (please note, patients without a referral letter cannot receive consultation): 8:30 - 11:00
  • Some departments do not accept walk-in-patients on certain days, so please contact the hospital for details.
  • Since many patients including revisit patients make an appointment, patients who do not have an appointment may have to wait.

Registration for “Revisit”: On an appointment basis

  • Basically, patient should make an appointment for their next visit on the day of consultation. Please register using the “Return Visit Reception Machine” before your appointment time. Although revisit patients without appointment can receive a consultation, please note that you may have to wait longer, as the patients with appointments are given priority.
  • Registration hours for the patients without an appointment: 8:30 - 11:00
  • If you are visiting a department for the first time, you may not be able to receive consultation unless you have a referral letter.

Others

In order to ensure the smooth running of outpatient services, we basically, limit the maximum number of departments that you can visit in a single day to 2 departments. Your kind understanding would be appreciated.

Days Outpatient Clinic is closed:

Saturdays, Sundays, National holidays and New Year holidays (from December 29 to January 3)

Some departments do not accept walk-in-patients on certain days, so please contact the hospital for details.

Critical and Emergency Care

In addition to the outpatient services, we accept patients who require emergency treatment at night and on holidays. If you wish to receive emergency medical care, please be sure to contact first by phone and inform us of your situation before arriving at the hospital. However, patients with high severity are given priority over less severe patients, as our hospital is designated as an emergency medical care center.

Consultation Procedure and Precautions

Please bring your Japanese National Health Insurance card and other medical certificates, etc. If you do not have a Japanese health insurance, please bring your private insurance documents. (travel insurance, etc.)

Please also bring a referral letter (patient referral document) issued by your doctor, as well as X-ray films/CDs.

Order of Consultation

Your consultation time is specified on your appointment slip.

Appointment Slip

A receipt will be issued upon payment at the cashier after your consultation, and an appointment slip for your next consultation will be attached to this receipt. Your consultation room number, name of attending physician, consultation number and time will appear on the display board on the wall. Please go to the examination room when the consultation number on your appointment slip appears on the board.

Consultation Order for First-time Patients

Since our hospital uses pre-appointment system for follow-up visits, the order of consultation for first-time patients varies depending on the severity of their condition and the department they are visiting, but it will usually be as follows:

  1. There are times, we see first-time patients in between patients with a follow-up appointment.
  2. Doctor may see the first-time patients after the consultation of all patients with appointment is completed.

Change or Cancellation of your Appointment

We accept changes of your appointment and cancelation of consultation at our Outpatient Appointment Desk.

However, in case you need to make changes to a test or examination date, you will need to discuss with your doctor.

Arriving Later than your Appointment time

You will be able to consult your doctor even if you are late for your appointment time. However, you may have to wait as the patients who arrive on their appointment time are given priority.

In case condition of your disease exacerbates, please explain your condition to a nurse at the clinical department counter and request for an earlier consultation.

Emergency Outpatient Services

Since NCGM is designated as a Tertiary Emergency Medical Care Facility, our Emergency and Critical Care Center provides tertiary emergency care at night and on holidays. The department is in charge of the admittance of patients at night, during the weekends and holidays. (The out-of-hours pharmacy is located on the B1F of the main building)

Payment Methods

You can make the payment at the automated payment machine across from the Billing counter or directly at the cashier. You can make payment either by cash or credit card at both the automated payment machine and cashier.

In case you are unable to make payment on the day of your visit, you can also pay via bank transfer to our designated bank account. If you pay via bank transfer, your bank transfer slip will be your receipt.
